ALGONQUIN GROCERY STORE FEASIBILITY STUDY AND MARKET ASSESSMENT

Capital Impact Partners, an equity-focused CDFI, partnered with Food Works Group to investigate the viability of building out a fresh foods market co-located with workforce housing and a community garden in Indian Head, MD. In addition to being a food desert, the town is a quickly-developing community located on the Potomac River and houses a Naval Support Facility that is the largest employer in Charles County, MD. The resulting feasibility study concluded such an establishment was in high demand by the local consumer base and included recommendations of best practices and core competencies to maximize both sustained financial viability and community investment.
