NOURISH SPRINGFIELD - SPRINGFIELD, IL

SHARED-USE KITCHEN NEEDS ASSESSMENT, FEASIBILITY STUDY, AND NETWORK DEVELOPMENT

FEASIBILITY AND VIABILITY | 2020 - 2021

Nourish has been working with the local government and community to create a large-scale shared-use kitchen facility in the downtown area of Springfield, Illinois. Food Works Group assessed the need for this shared-use kitchen, its potential to reemploy skilled food workers after the COVID-19 public health emergency, and opportunities for partnerships and collaboration in the walkable downtown area. With input from other kitchens and hubs around Illinois, we identified essential offerings, such as food as medicine programming, workforce development, year-round indoor farmers market, retail food space/meal service, and more.

Wendy has been a positive and transformative source of energy. She’s supportive and encouraging while keeping focused and on task. After many years of effort and struggle, Wendy’s collaboration has progressed my project further and faster than I could have hoped.
