ORGANIZATION FOR REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT SUCCESS - MANCHESTER, NH

FOOD HUB BUSINESS PLANNING AND SCALING

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PLAN | 2021

Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS) aids in the promotion of refugee and immigrant self-sufficiency in New Hampshire by helping new American farmers develop successful farming enterprises. Building off of the feasibility study we conducted in 2020, we drafted a business development plan for the ORIS food hub and advised on ownership models and strategies to bring their operations to scale efficiently.

FOOD HUB FEASIBILITY STUDY

LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS | 2020

To support a more robust farming community and regional food system, Food Works Group collaborated with ORIS to strategize how to build out a food-grade facility for aggregation, light processing, distribution, and more. We conducted interviews with growers, retailers, wholesale distributors, institutional buyers, consumers, and other ecosystem stakeholders to determine needs, challenges, business models, and opportunities and created an evaluation framework to assess the viability of such a facility.

Food Works Group provided us with insight, research and connections that we didn’t have the time, resources or the experience to create on our own. They gave us the opportunity to take a step back so we could thoughtfully analyze our operations and organization from a 10,000 foot viewpoint, allowing us to create systems and programs that are equitable, mission focused, and financially sustainable.
