FACILITATION OF DIVERSE STAKEHOLDERS IN THE MID-ATLANTIC IN PURSUIT OF USDA FUNDING

FWG facilitated a diverse group of nearly 100 Mid-Atlantic food system partners to coalesce around a competitive application to the inaugural USDA Regional Food Business Center (RFBC) opportunity. The partners hired FWG as a third party that could offer unbiased facilitation as well as nuanced regional knowledge, as the funding opportunity was the first-of-its-kind from USDA and will continue to serve as the cornerstone of the agency’s investment in local and regional supply chains beyond the first award. FWG created a participatory process that allowed the stakeholders to reach agreement in an inclusive and agreeable format. With support from FWG, the group was able to make defining decisions for the region, including leadership and prioritization of needs.
