RESILIENT CITIES CATALYST - NORTHERN CA

YOLO FOOD HUB NETWORK

OPERATIONS PLANNING, FINANCIAL MODELING | 2024 - PRESENT

In partnership with Anchors in Resilient Communities (ARC) and SupplyChange, Food Works Group (FWG) is developing a business plan framework and operating structure for the co-location of three unique food businesses to form the Yolo Food Hub Network: a local food aggregator and distributor for farm-sourced products, a light processor offering pre-prepared food items, and heavy processor offering finished recipe products, such as sauces and soups. FWG is facilitating the convening of key stakeholders to strategize around how these food businesses could work together to realize efficiencies and collaboratively penetrate the Northern California institutional markets. FWG will develop a budget framework for Yolo Food Hub Network, identify areas of joint revenue, shared direct and indirect expenses, general facility liability considerations, breakeven points and key thresholds for facility utilization to support the facility’s financial sustainability. The recommendations from this project will serve as a model for other regional efforts to advance farm to institution through investments in food processing.
